A little about me… I am a transportation engineer by education, and I currently spend my days in an office in Washington, DC. But at night and on the weekends, I bake. I come by baking naturally, with talented hobby-bakers on both sides of my family, and I’ve always had a passion for food and an enormous sweet tooth. I grew up surrounded by tasty cakes, delectable cookies, and delicious pies.
I started baking pie to follow in my grandmother’s footsteps, to keep the secret family recipes going through the generations; then I moved on through the many cookbooks on my shelves and the secret family recipes from both of my grandmothers. I started getting inventive with my baking about a year before I started blogging, and things just spiraled from there. Friends and family kept asking where I came up with my ideas and how I made them, and that’s when I decided to start blogging…
I started this blog about six months ago (in late February 2012) with the intention to share my ideas to turn regular baked goods in to fun creations. My goal was to make things both taste good and be beautiful, fun, and creative. Over the past 6 months that idea has evolved in to sharing not only the ideas of my imagination but also the recipes I have developed along the way.
I’ve always found baking enjoyable and use it as a way to find my zen after a stressful day. I put a lot of love and joy in to the desserts and treats that I create, and I love the happiness that a simple cupcake can impart on a friend or stranger. The new (and improved) goal of my blog is to create recipes that are both tasty and beautiful! And, above all else, to keep baking FUN!!
Here’s to baking!
